Recently, a loyal community member of ours expressed their concern for the lack of volume in September compared to our record-breaking performance last month. We are here to tell you there is no need to be concerned for the following reasons:
- Growth is never linear — it's actually quite the opposite ✅
- September 2020 was still the second-best month on record, in terms of $ trading volume 💪
Here's a visual progression of the volume increase:
- May 2020: $998K 📈 +134.69%
- June 2020: $2,127,743 📈 +113.08%
- July 2020: $8,081,207 📈 +279.80%
- August 2020: $21,966,388 📈 +163.24%
- September 2020: $9,153,215 📉 -58.33%
*Over the past 5 months, the $ trading volume increased by an average of +126.50% MoM! That is a very impressive growth rate, so no need to fret — we are doing just fine!
3. The slowing of $ trading volume growth actually shows signs of maturation and 'bottoming out.' A true, healthy market doesn't keep going up or down — markets are cyclical by nature.
4. The security token market cap increased by +3.79% — proving that market growth is not determinant on trading volume!
For these reasons, it actually increases our confidence in the future of the security token market!

The highlights don’t stop there! In the month of September, we added three new security tokens, bringing the total to 24, with live-trading data updated hourly to our platform via API integration. The new tokens this month come from MERJ.
What is MERJ?
MERJ is an exchange domiciled in Seychelles, an island country based off the East coast of Africa! MERJ is an innovative end-to-end, multi-market global financial exchange for equities, debt, and derivatives. They have expanded their capabilities by providing markets and services for security tokens and digital assets.
Interestingly enough, MERJ is part of the 'World Federation of Exchanges' a leading organization that vets exchanges around the globe. All of the top exchanges are members of this organization including Nasdaq, the OCC — The Options Clearing Corporation, and many more — adding to the credibility of their exchange.
What security tokens did we add?
- MERJ Exchange (MERJ-S): MERJ tokenized and issued 1,652,893 of its own equity at a price of $2.42 per share, with the goal of raising $4 million (hard cap). They successfully eclipsed their soft cap fundraise amount, but fell short of their hard cap (we aren't sure what the total raise was, but was >$450,000).
- Minervest (MSTV-S): Minervest's vision is to build an investment company, in partnership with other strategic institutions to make a generational impact and give small investors access to special investments only available to larger institutions.
- UPRETS — Oosten Property (OST1): UPRETS, the real estate tokenization platform, tokenized the beautiful Oosten residential apartment building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 👇
